Libraries have always played a central role in fostering a deeper appreciation for knowledge and life-long learning. Modern libraries should nurture a critical need of socializing by nurturing a strong milieu for interaction, introspection and collective learning. No longer limited to being a repository of books, libraries today are a part of a much bigger picture, which includes education, humanities, arts, and other important social functions.

The design strives to create a sense of place that is open, porous and fluid. The “non-Building” designed here interweaves landscape, open spaces in a tapestry of architectural form that is inviting, exciting and engaging for its stakeholders.

The design began by positioning the functional spaces in a manner that maximizes entire public floor as one public space where various activities can happen simultaneously. Spaces for art gallery, café, auditorium entrance, book shop, functions lobby are positioned on same level where major part of open spaces are shaded by buildings & shading elements . The design significantly increase engagement of users and extend the amount of time spent in the place.
